I don't have the answers but animation, particularly on ball AI animations are so bad this year, worse than many years passed, and it seems without abilities some AI defenders are better off not being there at all because they make no effect or can easily be abused.
The second part about the DL shedding boils down to every snap essentially being a coin flip between OL and DL and also we notice these awful pitches more because they technically shouldn't be occurring but they sadly do. It all wraps around into the coding that is awful and interactions haven't been truly updated in a decade.
