One of the great things about Fall of PoE goods Oriath's launch (which brings Path of Exile around version 3.0) is that sweeping balance changes and new skills means the whole metaPOE game has been thrown out. The community has produced a ton of new builds to play. Even though there's still some jargon to learn, Engineering Eternity solves one of the biggest problems with many manuals I read by walking you through the leveling procedure. Instead of simply showing you what the build will look like at the endPOE game, he breaks the guide into important leveling milestones, giving you more smaller, more digestible aims to work toward.
I went together with his Scorching Ray Necromancer build, which revolves around melting enemies under a blast of fire and allowing its damage over time talent finish them off while I move on into the next group. It's a great build that I recommend anyone use because it isn't too reliant on gear. I still felt confused but I eventually needed a lantern that may illuminate the upcoming few steps I had to take. That made Path of Exile considerably more accessible, and I started to see why it has such enthusiastic fans.
Among the best concepts in Path of Exile is its own passive tree and skill gems. Each time you level up, you unlock things which you can use to uncover nodes in the passive ability tree. Minor nodes provide slight updates to your stats, even while major nodes unlock strong passive abilities that fundamentally change the way you perform.
This works in concert with ability gems, which slot to pieces of equipment and provide your character charms and abilities to use in combat (unlike Diablo 3, that they do not have any provided skills). Items will frequently have multiple gem slots, and sometimes they're linked together. When I set a skill like Orb of Storms into a slot and then link it with Curse on Strike, Flammability and Vulnerability, each time my Orb of Storms hits an enemy it'll also use both of those curses into cheap poe currency. It's essentially a highly robust spell-crafting system.
